Uterine Fibroids

Uterine Fibroids, also known as leiomyomas, are growths made up of the muscle and connective tissue from the uterus wall. Fortunately, fibroids are not usually cancerous. Having fibroids doesn’t increase the chances of getting other forms of uterine cancer.

Fibroids are actually a very common type of growth in your pelvis. Approximately 40 to 80% of women have fibroids. However, not all fibroids cause symptoms, so many women aren’t even aware that they have fibroids. Because they’re small and don’t cause any problems.

Symptoms of uterine fibroids

Many women who have fibroids don't have any symptoms. In those that do, symptoms can be influenced by the location, size and number of fibroids.

In women who have symptoms, the most common signs and symptoms of uterine fibroids include:

  • Excessive or painful bleeding during your period (menstruation).
  • Bleeding between your periods
  • Pelvic pressure or pain
  • Frequent urination
  • Constipation
  • Backache or leg pains

Acupuncture for Uterus Fibroid

Acupuncture and herbs can help to manage the pain and bleeding caused by fibroids, offering an effective alternative to hormone medications or surgery. When compared to chemical intervention, acupuncture is a much safer and more effective method of treating your uterine fibroids, as well as improving your chances of pregnancy. Acupuncture can be very helpful in correcting reproductive disorders, especially uterine fibroids. The treatment has proven itself effective in the reduction and shrinking of these tumours, causing the smaller ones to disappear altogether.

Studies have shown that acupuncture treatment for uterine fibroids leads to reduced tumour sizes, alleviation of pain and discomfort, as well as correcting all your back and abdominal problems. For improving fertility, it may be used in combination with other methods such as IVF, but can be done in isolation as well. Find relief from the pain of fibroids through integrative care for leiomyoma with acupuncture.
