Faster Recovery

Why delay reclaiming your quality of life when acupuncture can treat physical, psychological and autonomic nervous disorders easily and quickly. To highlight just one example, acupuncture is exceedingly effective at treating soft tissue injuries, which are commonly caused during MVAs. Such injuries — often invisible even with the use of scans and x-rays – can be extremely painful and debilitating. Left untreated, or treated only with pain killers, soft tissue injuries can take months or years to recover from. Learn more about symptoms and injuries we can treat.

PTSD Drug-Free Treatment

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a massive mental trauma, and can be triggered by an MVA. Common post-MVA PTSD symptoms include intrusive memories and flashbacks, being easily startled or scared, and panic attacks. Acupuncture provides rapid relief to patients without causing unwanted flareups, and promotes general well-being. Increasingly, acupuncture is being turned to for rapid, drug-free treatment of PTSD.

ICBC Q&A

I would like to receive acupuncture treatment for the pain caused by a motor vehicle accident. Do I need the approval of the ICBC adjuster and doctors' referrals?

No. The first 12 treatments do not require the approval of the ICBC nor doctors' referrals. You only need to bring your ICBC Claim number. If you need more than 12 treatments, you can request ICBC to extend your treatment.

What is the cost of acupuncture treatment?

No additional cost will be billed to the patients covered under ICBC.

What treatment will I receive?

You will receive a combination of acupuncture, cupping or stone massage. If constipation starts or worsens after the accident, the prognosis is not good. In this case, several days of herbal medicine may be prescribed. There may be extra costs for herbal medicines for more than 3 days

Can you combine physiotherapy, chiropractic and massage therapy with acupuncture?

Yes, combining allegeable therapies can significantly benefit the recovery rate.

How often and how long should I be treated?

It is most important to be treated consistently twice a week. The treatment period can be explained during the course of treatments depending on the condition of the patient.

After the accident, I lost my appetite, had problems sleeping and developed a panic disorder. Is this also the aftermath of a motor vehicle accident? Can acupuncture help with that?

The aftermath of a motor vehicle accident is not limited to physical pain. Anorexia, insomnia, and panic disorder are typical symptoms of autonomic nervous disorders that can no longer be controlled from physical trauma. Acupuncture can treat these psychological symptoms along with your physical pain.

There was a child in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Can children receive acupuncture? What if they are terrified of needles?

For young children, use only the smallest(thinnest) needles and the smallest number of needles. Acupressure massage and stone massage are usually applied rather than acupuncture.
