What is Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture?

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture, also known as Cosmetic Acupuncture, is a painless, non-surgical procedure that is effective in reducing the signs of aging. Hair-thin acupuncture needles are inserted in specific locations on the face, ears, neck, hands and feet based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The disposable needles are placed in energy channels (or meridians) that either begin or end on the face, or that work to modify the energy flow of a person’s body. Therefore, a certified practitioner of Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture knows how to influence the signs of aging on the face while simultaneously treating the underlying factors that contribute to the aging process.

What are the effects of Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture?

As blockages in the meridians are removed and energy is free to move, blood and energy flow to the face and properly nourish, hydrate, and tone the skin while diminishing fine lines. Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture can erase 5-10 years from your face, with results apparent after just a few treatments.

After treatment, the patient will notice:

  • Increased muscle tone and dermal contraction
  • Increased collagen production and its dispersal
  • Reduced bags under the eyes, and less tendency to sagging and jowls
  • No puffiness
  • No fine lines or frown lines, and less larger wrinkles
  • Controlled acne
  • Softer and tighter skin due to the increased circulation of blood and lymph to the face
  • A radiant glow with more even colour
  • A reduced double chin
  • Lifted eyelids that were once droopy
  • more relaxed and refreshed expression and beauty radiated from within

While the face is being treated, it is important to understand that the whole body is evaluated and attended to as well, for a whole body and mind approach.

What is the course of treatment?

The course of treatment is between 10-12 sessions, with 1-3 sessions per week for best results. Each individual will respond differently to the treatment depending on his or her condition and lifestyle. Visible results that are more long-lasting appear on or about the seventh session. Following the initial course of treatment, maintenance sessions can prolong the results for five to ten years. Each treatment session lasts between 60 to 90 minutes.

Why Choose Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture over a surgical face-lift or Botox?

While not a replacement for surgery, Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is an excellent alternative. It is far less costly than cosmetic surgery and is safe, virtually painless, has no side effects or risk of disfigurement (slight bruising can occasionally occur). Unlike surgery that may have an extended recovery period with swelling and discolouration, there is no trauma from Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture. While Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture cannot reshape one’s nose or chin, it is a more subtle rejuvenation that takes years off one’s face safely and naturally while improving overall health.

Who should NOT have Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture?

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is contraindicated for some pituitary disorders, heart disorders, diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure, migraine headaches, and individuals who have a pacemaker, or who have a problem with bleeding or bruising. Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture should not be done during pregnancy, during a bout with a cold or flu, during an allergic attack or during an acute herpes outbreak.

Does it really make a difference?

Cosmetic Acupuncture has been practiced for thousands of years in China. As early as the Sung Dynasty (960AD-1270AD), Acupuncture rejuvenation practices were employed for the Empress and the Emperor’s concubines. The Chinese discovered and utilized ways to change the energy flow within the body to initiate the healing process for rejuvenation. Knowing that beauty radiates from the inside out, they manipulate the body’s energy flow to nourish and condition the internal and thus the external body.
